Calgary Zoo
One of the first things on our 'To Do' list with our little Grandson was a visit to the zoo, he had never been to a zoo and Sarah and I had waited for his arrival before going to Calgary Zoo ourselves so we could see it together. We were a little worried that a city zoo may be a bit 'sub par'...we needn't have worried.
Our first stop on arrival was the Penguin Plunge where watching Ethan was so enjoyable, he absolutely loved it and spent his time being running across the glass panels in the floor from one tank to another shouting and pointing at the super fast penguins darting below or being held by Dad and Grandad looking over the top of the pools.
the zoo is split into sections with the North America section being the first you come to after exiting the penguins, there are the usual Buffalo and such as well as wolves and grizzly bears.
Ethan made sure I didn't miss anything by pointing out items of interest along the way
the fish were almost as popular with Ethan as the penguins were...........almost
the Gorillas made everyone laugh with their laid back attitude to the whole zoo thing (the foot is resting on the viewing glass)
The hippo and giraffe left Ethan wide eyed as did many of the other critters in this excellent zoo
after a long hard morning of wandering the huge expanse of Calgary zoo, what better than the on site cafe for lunch and while mum and dad were away getting lunch grandad sneaked Ethan an apple to be going on with.....
before we exited we went back through the penguin plunge again (much to the delight of Ethan) before posing for a photo on the suitably placed photo spot.
there's much more to Calgary zoo than these few photos show but they are a great reminder of a wonderful day with Mark, Hayley and Ethan, his first zoo visit will definitely not be his last.
