Craigievar Castle
Set in the Grampian Mountains just South of Alford in Aberdeenshire is this 17th Century castle, previously home to the Forbes family for 350 years it was given as a gift to the National Trust for Scotland in 1963.
It was a pretty bleak winter day as I walked up the long tree lined driveway but the sun was trying to break through.
The whole place is a strange salmon/pink colour though it does add some colour to the winter scene, worse still it is closed for winter
I can't make my mind up if this is like a fairytale castle or something from a horror movie
One good thing about it being closed is the lack of people getting in the pictures
I take a good wander around the outside of the castle and grab as many photos as I want, undisturbed.
I also take a little wander around the grounds on the obvious pathways
As I am leaving I see this excellent bright green moss growing along a wall in the grounds leaving hardly a stone untouched.
