Dead Horse Point - Utah
350 miles North East of the Grand Canyon Village in the Moab area of Utah is the oddly named Dead Horse Point State Park. As legend has it, the area was used as a natural coral for horses by cowboys. The reason for this is that it took only one short fence to form the coral as the cliffs made the other three sides.
The legend goes that the coral was abandoned and even though the gate was opened for the horses they did not escape and so died there in the high desert.
similar to the Grand Canyon but perhaps a little less spectacular it is a beautiful secluded location where you are able to escape the bustle of crowds and sit a while absorbing the desert scene. As there are many reasons to visit the Moab area of Utah you shoud do so if the opportunity arises and whilst there take a ride to Dead Horse Point and see if the coral is empty.
