Pacific Coast, Oregon
During the mega road trip of July 2009 I drove the pacific coast highway from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington. It was a spectacular route with stunning overlooks and incredible beaches, in Oregon I took a wander and grabbed a few shots of some fantastic locations. The exact locations escape me as it was a long journey, perhaps I should do it again and make sure I remember next time ; )
Down on the beaches the water was absolutely freezing, I paddled in a few spots just to say I'd done it but it needed a bit more time to warm up.
The road hugs the coast all the way, only detouring where absolutely necessary and even then it is only to go around a canyon or cutting before returning to the coast, there are stopping points along the entire length.
you really do need to leave yourself a lot of time to travel this road as you can't help but stopp again and again to take in the beautiful pacific coastline views.
from higher up the cliffs the views are as spectacular or perhaps even more so, huge pinnacles of rock dot the coastline along its entire length and maintain their own small world on top, tiny replicas of their surrounding land
The Oregon coast is a stunning section of the Pacific Coast Highway which I am very likely to return to as it will be (relatively) close to Canada and will make up some excellent circular routes from Calgary.
