Branson, Missouri
We visited Branson on several occasions and really loved it, it tagged nicely onto a trip to the Ozarks and 'Bull Shoals' in Arkansas making a great weekend away. In this first shot we were with Neil, Paula and Adam in the Spring of 2008 with the beautiful blossom on all of the trees on the main shopping area downtown.
Branson is a tourist destination for Americans with a huge number of theatres and attractions from waxworks to wineries and everything in between. The free 'fire and water' show takes place every night after dark and consists of fountains and gas jet flames firing in a synchronised performance with various music tracks and is really quite impressive.
Sarah loved the shopping in Branson which was an eclectic mix of craft style stores and independent clothing manufactures dotted around between major high street brands, and even a couple of stores floating on the river.
The walk down by the river is lovely though in March it still needs a little time before looking its best
The scenic railway operates from the town centre and offers 'bubble cars' to provide a view over the heavily wooded landscape
my personal favourite store in the city, in fact in the country was the 'Bass Pro Shop' selling all things fishing & hunting, below Steve stands impressed by the display in the store.
Branson is a well kept secret, tucked away in the South Western corner of Missouri that is well worth a visit if you are out this way.
