Camden market
Camden Market is one of the largest markets in London, situated in Camden Town around Regents Canal at Hampstead Road Lock (known as Camden Lock) it is actually a number of different retail outlets, indoor markets, stores on Camden high street and outdoor markets. It is massive with over 1000 outlets and eateries and really is an incredible shopping experience. As with all markets it has it's junk but it also has many genuinely unique items, from the guy making your new leather handbag, belt or anything else while you wait and watch, to the stores with Victoriana or those with intricate lace made on site. There is a huge indoor area as well as extensive outdoor eating with more choice than you could ever need.
Beyond the dining area and lock (where you can take a boat tour on the canal) there's the high street which looks like no other in London. Spanning outward from the high street is another huge open market and several side stalls. The market is open 7 days a week from 10:00 to 18:00 and if you are going there to shop then try to go on a weekday when the main retail outlets are open because on a weekend it has more than 100,000 visitors and is incredibly crowded by noon. But, If you really want to see the full chaos of Camden Market, Sunday remains the main trading day.
The market is the 4th most popular visitor attraction in London and is made of 6 separate sections which lead out to the high street where you will find more shopping (if you have any money left) Whether weekday or weekend, Camden Market really is a 'must see' place. I find a tube to Chalk Farm is best, it's less busy and you can walk down to the market, through it and down the high street to Camden Town tube station on the same line for your ride home making a nice one way journey through the whole area.
