Capilano Suspension Bridge
You can't really visit Vancouver without a trip to Capilano Suspension Bridge, though all out 'touristy' it is still a great thing to see. The recent addition to the park of a cliff walk has added further to the attraction.
from the entrance there are some fine looking totems as you make your way into the park. Surrounding these are gardens comprised of local shrubs and trees.
So our day begins with a leisurely stroll through the artworks alongside a huge deep canyon heading toward the suspension bridge.
On arrival there are quite a few folks making their way across and Sarah is non too keen to get started so I suggest we head to the cliff walk first.....
This seems to bring a smile to Sarahs face, most likely because she hasn't seen the brochure showing the cliff walk........
it's a straightforward start with a few steps leading down to a walkway which is suspended beside a cliff, Sarah never once let go of the railings, I'm not sure where the hell she thought she was going to fall to but I am sure that holding those railings wasn't going to make a difference if the thing collapsed.
it's fair to say the Sarah 'edged' her way out onto the main section of the suspended walkway, still holding that railing.....just in case.
She did find it in herself to let go long enough to take a photo showing 'yours truly' and the suspension bridge in the background
it is actually a nice walk along the treetops looking down to the river below though it seems two hands are still needed at this point.
A low branch allows me to catch a nice shot of the two of us just before we exit the curve.
One handed on the glass floor eh...getting brave now
After the cliff walk it's a stop off at the tea house for refreshments, an old couple from Australia gave us their disposable ponchos (even though it wasn't raining) as they were leaving. We accepted them thanked the couple and set off for the bridge.
There were still a good number of people on the bridge causing it to sway to and fro which did nothing for Sarah as we made our way across.
At one point Sarah said it scared the sh*t out of her an old lady in front of us laughed and laughed at the comment and agreed with the sentiment too, it made me chuckle to see the pleasure the old lady got from Sarahs frank thoughts on the matter.
Once across we explored all of the pathways including the 'Treetops Adventure' which was good fun and provided some nice views of the bridge and other park areas.
Suddenly as we make our way back over the bridge Sarah finally lets go of the handrails, she soon got hold again but for one brief moment............ she was free
After another cafe visit our final stop off was the gift shop where a nice new shirt for Ethan and a few things for ourselves were added to the load for hauling back to Calgary.
