Milwaukee ,Wisconsin
In June 2008 with Sarah away on business I took a road trip with no clear destination in mind, what I did know is I wanted some cooler, less humid weather for a while so I set off north across Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. These first shots are pics I grabbed along the way.
I spent a night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and in the morning I turned East across Minnesota having decided I would go and see Lake Michigan. The closer I got the more the signs for Milwaukee appealed to me (Happy Days, The Fonze, and all that) and I headed that way until reaching the shores of the lake and the impressive 'Discovery World' just south of 'Veterans Park' in the heart of the city.
After grabbing some lunch I took a walk along the shore to 'Veterans Park' (1 mile North)
Another one of my favourite USA shots was taken at the beach in Veterans Park, a huge lump of driftwood reaching out into Lake Michigan
having seen the 'great water' and wandered around the home of the Fonz for a few hours I set off home again, this time through the farmlands of Iowa.
there had been some massive flooding in Iowa causing considerable damage and diversion, however a beautiful side effect of that was this flooded field close to a diner I visited one evening in Fort Dodge where I spend the evening.
I really enjoyed these Northern states, the weather was very similar to an English summer with virtually no humidity and the rolling hills with farms dotted amongst them reminded me of my home so far away.
