Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
In May 2008 we visited Philadelphia to see the declaration of independence, Liberty Bell and Constitution Hall. Our friend Brenda drove us there as part of a trip we took with her which also included Niagara Falls.
Sarah (on the right) dashing to get into the queue for the liberty bell.
Whilst walking along the street I decided to cross over to grab a shot of Independence Hall, in doing so I incurred the wrath of the largest woman I have ever seen in my life, looking like a cross between the good year blimp and a parking attendant she waddled her way toward me shouting like her head was on fire. I'm still not exactly sure what the hell she was on but I just gave her a dirty look and walked away. So, if you find yourself out here be careful about walking across the road, seems our colonial cousins are a bit touchy about it.
I love the shot below, taken in the National Constitution Centre I made it intentionally dark inside to silhouette the people in the foreground against the cityscape outside the massive windows
I smiled when looking at the statues of the founding fathers, I wonder what they would have made of an individuals freedom to cross the street??
There was a gay pride rally in the City that day which brought out an unusual collection of those people who feel they should protest against the personal choice of another human being that causes them no harm at all.
here are a few more shots from a great day out, even if I was accosted by the elephant woman in a parking wardens suit for crossing the street
