The Waterfront - Halifax - Nova Scotia
During our stay in Halifax, the road to the harbour front for us was a direct line from Citadel Hill and across the 'Grand Parade' in front of City Hall, we found ourselves down there on both evenings in Halifax. The waterfront has a nice boardwalk with restaurants, buskers, ice cream stalls and the usual trappings of a waterfront city including the ocean related artworks.
There are boats upon boats along the waterfront, in some places they are squeezed into every space available. It's nice to walk along watching the hustle and bustle of a busy quayside as we seek out a restaurant and some east coast fish.
There are a number of museum ships along the harbour, most of them pristinely restored to their former glory. We didn't go onboard any this time as it was late in the day and they were closing.
I like this shot of 'Acadia' in the harbour, the light bouncing back up from the water illuminates the sides of the vessel all the way to the waterline.
Sarah took a couple of shots of 'Acadia' herself and beat mine hands down, I really love both of them and couldn't being myself to leave one out of the post so I've added both. Click either of the images for the full view of the pretty impressive artistic contribution from Sarah.
We settled for Murphy's Restaurant for dinner, it occupies a prime location on the harbourfront and would allow us to sit out on the water watching the ships go by while we dined, what could be better. We really liked the open patio on the back of the place and sat there enjoying our dinner until the sun went down and we moved inside for warmth. Dinner was great and service was pretty good, but watching a little mouse scuttle around under the tables did get a bit off putting at times.
Ultimately it didn't matter, the food was great and we're still here to talk about it so maybe the mouse had just stopped by for dinner too.
